Our Intern Team
A valuable component of our firm is our team of interns dedicated to academic pursuits spanning criminal justice, law, the intersection between medicine and law, and government legislation. Our interns assist paralegals and attorneys to prepare for active cases and lead intense research projects that advance our firm’s efforts to affect change in practice areas we are deeply invested in including the “troubled teen industry” (TTI), sexual abuse and harassment, and medical malpractice.
Maya Uyar
This is Maya’s 4th summer at JLC and is currently heading into her junior year at the University of Connecticut. She is majoring in Human Rights, Political Science and is on the Pre-Law track. After graduation, she is going to travel and explore the world a bit before setting her sights on a career in Human Rights and eventually law school! A little fun fact about Maya – second on her list of dream jobs, just after lawyer is a dietician/fitness instructor! At JLC, Maya has worked on a number of different projects from cult cases to medical malpractice to troubled teen industry cases. Her passion for human rights, her “wicked smahts” and her research and writing skills lend perfectly to the JLC team that seeks justice for survivors of extreme trauma. Maya’s future is incredibly bright and we can’t wait to watch her fly! (Don’t forget us lil folk, Ms. Maya!)
Morgan Maiorano
Morgan has interned full-time and worked part-time for JLC for 2 years. She is headed into her senior year at Pace University’s Pforzheimer Honors College in New York City where she is double majoring in Psychology and Criminal Justice in pursuit of a career in forensic psychology. While we are not holding her to it 😉 she hopes to continue her education with a master's degree in Forensic Mental Health Counseling. Morgan has been a tremendous asset to the JLC team and an absolute pleasure to work with and she kicks butt too! There hasn’t been a project handed to her that she hasn’t turned around ahead of time and with added insight well beyond her years. Little fun fact about Morgan is that she grew up as a competitive dancer (she is an incredibly talented and beautiful dancer. We’ve seen video proof!). She shares her passion for the performing arts by teaching and mentoring the next generation of dancers while also interning with JLC full time!
Ryan Scully
Ryan is a rising senior at Duke University where she is majoring in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Spanish. Ryan is particularly interested in the intersection of law and bioscience, and following graduation, she plans to pursue this passion in law school. She is also very interested in traveling and seeks to embrace new experiences through jobs or volunteer opportunities abroad. Ryan has been instrumental in researching preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy in the IVF industry and helping JLC bring accountability for consumer fraud by genetic labs preying on some of the most vulnerable consumers in the United States. Her medical and science background has allowed her passion for law and medicine to shine! A little fun fact about Ryan is that while she has been interning with JLC, she is also volunteering in the Emergency Department at Mass General Hospital, interning for an OB/GYN medical device company. If that’s not enough evidence of Ryan’s all-around awesomeness, she is also playing in a competitive soccer league!
Teddy Schwab
Teddy recently graduated from Natick High School and will soon begin his college career at Elon University, majoring in history. This is Teddy's first summer at JLC, where he's putting his love for history to work by executing detailed research and writing related to the history of the “troubled teen industry”. A fun fact about Teddy is that he taught himself how to play the guitar and the piano and is currently working on the harmonica, further adding to his skills! (He’s incredibly talented!) Teddy was co-captain if his high school’s Ultimate Frisbee team, which won states! Go get em’ Teddy! We hope to see you back next summer after kickin’ freshman year’s butt!
